Two years ago

Not an inch of greenery could be found among the dust, rubble, and jagged rock. As he twisted and turned to scour the destroyed area, Nabu’s arms trembled. The buildings were half the size they used to be. Instead of palm trees, which used to decorate the colorful stone streets, clouds of dust and concrete filled the sidewalks, making the walkways hardly noticeable. Several fires enveloped the neighborhood he was in, and that was just one area of the city. What a horrifying scene.

“Nabu, how dare you betray us!” Dai was only a few feet in front of him with a terrifying look on his face as if his dark brown eyes had witnessed the beginning of the world’s end.

Nabu stared back at him in silence. He kept his arms loose and his mouth closed.

“I always knew you were plotting something behind the scenes. So you had plans to kill Koka all along because you suspected him to be Baku, I assume?”

Despite the nightmare of destruction surrounding the two, Dai glared with menacing eyes at Nabu, who continued to be silent.

“Nabu, are you listening to me?”

“I had to!” Nabu finally perked up. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and reopened them. “Koka is without a doubt the reincarnation of Baku! How could you be so blind, Dai? His power must be sacrificed to fix humanity!”

“You don’t have any proof!”

“You fucking idiot, Koka is literally fighting the goddess right now!” Nabu’s fists clenched tightly. He badly wanted to punch Dai. “It’s already blasphemy, Dai!”

“Nabu, you traveled with us for so long.” Dai gazed at the ground in front of him, his eyes now hidden behind his brown bangs. “Even the king trusted you!” A silent gust of wind danced between the two comrades as Dailiano Hito finished his sentence. ”Just what do you and that Greta woman plan to do with him?”
